Welcome to our Trash Service survey for township residents!

We value your opinion on whether our community should utilize a contracted trash service provider or allow individual residents to choose their own. Your feedback is essential in helping us make an informed decision that best serves our residents.

This survey will close on May 31, 2026, and the results will be shared with the Township Supervisors to assist in their decision regarding trash service.

Advantages & Considerations of Trash Service Options

Below is a brief overview of common advantages and considerations for each approach to help inform your response.

Option 1: Contracted Township‑Wide Service

Advantages:

  • One negotiated price for all residents

  • Fewer trash trucks on township roads

  • Consistent pickup schedule

  • Township oversight for service issues

Key Considerations:

  • Residents cannot choose their own provider
  • Contracted price may not match every household’s needs

  • Changes require township action, not individual choice

Option 2: Private Pay (Resident‑Selected Own Providers)

Advantages:

  • Freedom to choose your preferred company

  • Ability to shop for pricing or service features

  • Flexibility for unique household needs

Key Considerations:

  • More trash trucks on township roads, which could cause delays and road wear

  • Prices may be higher due to the township’s rural location

  • No township oversight if service issues arise

  • Less consistency across the community

  • More difficult for township to track recycling to obtain recycling grants
